Aboriginal Interpreter Forum 2025

Published

The Aboriginal Interpreter Service (AIS) proudly held its first ever interpreter forum.

The 2-day event saw 29 interpreters travel from across the Territory, to Tennant Creek, to participate in a dynamic program of workshops and discussions focused on professional development.

Topics included:

  • Leadership
  • Resilience and courage
  • Managing self
  • The impact and value of the AIS
  • The art of influence
  • Customer focus
  • Interpreter support and mental health and wellbeing.

With experience levels ranging from less than 12 months to over 25 years, the forum also provided a valuable opportunity for sharing best practices and addressing common challenges within the profession.

Key highlights included:

  • Networking with fellow Interpreters
  • Engagement in workshops and group activities
  • A memorable grand tour bus that took Darwin participants to Tennant Creek.

Thank you to all who joined us and contributed to the success of this important gathering.

We look forward to continuing to support and grow the skills and connections of interpreters across the Territory.
