Extra space for life in Milingimbi
For Shania and Travis, life with their son Grayson just got a little easier thanks to recent upgrades to their family home in Milingimbi.
Through the Room to Breathe program, their home has been transformed from a 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom house, into a more spacious and comfortable home, featuring an additional bedroom and bathroom, addressing overcrowding, and supporting their future needs. To find more out the program, go to the Ourfuture NT website.
Their home is 1 of 32 in Milingimbi scheduled for upgrades through the program. Six projects have already been completed, with another 6 underway, as the program continues to deliver meaningful improvements across the community.
Room to Breathe is a $200 million initiative focused on improving homes in remote communities and forms part of a broader $4 billion investment in remote housing. Territory-wide, 552 of the planned 996 upgrades have been delivered.
For families like Shania and Travis’s, the program is helping create homes that are more functional, comfortable, and better suited to changing needs.
