Triple the action: Supporting tenants, building communities
Community Housing Provider Mission Australia (MAH) has been managing 251 social dwellings on behalf our department since April 2024 and recently delivered 3 fantastic events for tenants, offering them the chance to connect, share concerns early and build a sense of community.
Mobile Pop-Up Office in Karama
Tenants at Kalymnos Drive were recently visited by MAH who brought along a skip bin! They worked together to dispose of unwanted bulky items and de-clutter homes before catching up over pizza to find out what supports tenants would like to see in the future. It's part of ongoing efforts to support tenants in creating comfortable, welcoming spaces they can enjoy.
Midday Maintenance in Moil
A recent Midday Maintenance event offered tenants’ access to on-the-spot plumbing, electrical and carpentry services through specialist multi-trade contractor QP Group. Many residents saw their gutters cleaned and fly screens replaced. A new solar flood light system was also installed in the parking area of the complex to improve safety for vulnerable tenants and seniors.
Tenant Voice Meeting and Water Play Day in Moil
A full day of engagement started with a Tenant Voice Meeting, offering residents an opportunity to provide open and honest feedback about their experience in public housing, followed by an after-school children's Water Play Day at Moil Primary School. The Play Day was an open invite to the whole community, which saw approximately 80 children and their parents attend. Residents had a chance to chat with MAH about the services available to them while their kids had fun playing with the water squirter toys, forming new friendships, and enjoying bakery treats and icy poles.
Thank you to everyone who came along.
