Positive community outcomes at Victoria Gardens
The Greater Darwin Region is delivering positive outcomes through a targeted improvement program at 29 Victoria Drive, Gray. Since commencing in November 2025, the work has focused on strengthening tenancy compliance, reducing anti-social behaviour and improving community safety.
A key element of the work has been a targeted review of all 46 tenancies at the complex, with teams addressing issues, supporting compliant tenants, and taking appropriate action where necessary. Throughout this process, nine properties have been vacated and held vacant while the transformation has progressed.
The Greater Darwin Region team is now identifying tenancy-ready applicants to move into the complex. This has been complemented by upgrades to lighting, fencing, landscaping, letterboxes and new courtyards for some units. In addition to business-as-usual PHSO patrols, joint patrols with NT Police have reinforced the response.
Comparative data shows a reduction in complaints and disturbances at the complex.
Private neighbours and Gray Primary School have been invited to provide feedback, with early responses indicating that the changes are already being noticed.
One local resident said, 'Noise from the complex had previously been impacting my sleep and raising concerns for me at work, but as a result of the Department’s efforts, I have been sleeping better and have observed a significant reduction in screaming and loud music.'
These outcomes reflect the impact of a coordinated response and the sustained effort of teams across the Greater Darwin Region. Once the transformation is complete, the complex will be known as Victoria Gardens.
