Pmara Jutunta enters new memorandum of understanding
On 4 June, not-for-profit organisation Many Rivers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pmara Jutunta Aboriginal Corporation (PJAC), committing to support the Pmara Jutunta (Ti Tree 6-mile) community with governance, economic development, and capacity building, and provide administration assistance to the corporation, over the next 5 years.

Remote homeland switches on to renewable energy
The Birany Birany homeland in the East Arnhem region, approximately 2 hours from Nhulunbuy, has welcomed a new solar Bushlight system which is delivering continuous, reliable power to 6 housing dwellings, replacing a diesel generator the community had previously relied on.

Commencement of tranche 1 reforms to the Local Government Act
The first tranche of amendments to the Local Government Act 2019 (the Act) and the Local Government (General) Regulations 2021 were passed by the Northern Territory Parliament on 22 May 2025, received the administrator’s assent on 6 June 2025, and are expected to come into force shortly.
